* this will really piss off any demon before IT is destroyed. Normal exorcism is when the demon is allowed to return to HELL after exorcising IT out of the human body. But why show mercy to ANY demon.  

Custom T Shirt Folder

How many of us had no time to fold our T shirts/ trousers to perfection without the aid of an iron + ironing board. One can spend load of cash and buy a ready made T shirt folder which is made of plastic, which eventually breaks. How about building yourself a rock solid T shirt folder which lasts years and years. 

Fear not, follow the step by step instructions below to build your own T shirt folder.   

Items Needed - 

• Thick single piece of cardboard [ left over from packaging ]
• Duct Tape
• Scissors
• Ruler

• Cut out a single thick piece of cardboard [ left over from packaging or purchase at bookstore ] to 57 cm x 38 cm. Thicker the cardboard the better  
• Using a ruler and pen. transfer above diagram onto the 57 cm x 38 cm single piece of thick cardboard
• Section A/ Section B  folds over on the Blue/ Green/ Yellow middle colored section
• Duct tape all colored lines on both sides for durability
• Carefully cut ONLY the two vertical Green lines which end on Purple horizontal line. So that Section D folds upwards into Section C
• How T shirt folder works is you put a T shirt face down on this device, the arms may protrude outside Section A / Section B. If T shirt protrudes beyond Section D, just fold it once to fit in Section D. Then just fold either Section A to the right and Section B to the left and then fold Section D upwards to Section C. Voila ! a folded T shirt/ trouser
• Works even on long sleeve shirts, what you do there is  manually vertically fold the long sleeve on Section A / Section B and then fold it the usual way, left over right/ right over left / bottom upwards

• Finished T shirt folder should resemble above figure. Middle horizontal section is in clear tape coz I ran out of duct tape while building 
• Final folded T shirt size is determined by Section C
• This T shirt folder was made out of Filing cardboard with expected life span of 1 month but to my surprise it has lasted me little over 3 years

Natural Car Air Freshener

What is that smell ? We’ve all been there. Maybe you’ve got messy kids. Maybe you just completed a long road trip. Either way, your car smells bad. You could reach for conventional car air fresheners, but doing so traps you (and your passengers) in a small space with dangerous air pollutants. Save some money and your health with DIY car air fresheners instead!

Items Needed - 

• Syringe
• Container with tight fitting lid
• Baking Soda
• Essential Oil(s) 

• Use a drill to create some holes
• Fill 2 x lid size with baking soda
• Put a few drops of essential oils of your choosing over the baking soda
• Close the lid and place it in the vehicle
• When essential oil smell diminishes slightly, shake the container or add more essential oil drops as required
• Change baking soda once every 6-8 weeks

Modified Air freshener -

• Salvaged an old car freshener found in any supermarket, emptied the poisonous liquid and thoroughly cleaned the inside before filling it with baking soda + essential oil - few drops only

DIY Tablet Stand

Items Needed - 

• Thick card board
• Ruler 
• Scissors 
• Duct Tape

• Instead of throwing away money on plastic stands which break after some time or aluminium stands which collapse in on itself due to the weight/ declination angle of the tablet.

• Very carefully cut a single piece of thick cardboard to resemble this shape above. 
• The centre triangle section has to at a 45 degree angle

• Thick cardboard has to be used, otherwise the tablet being heavy will topple over
• Left over notebook/ tv/ printer packaging is what was used for this stand

• Duct tape the entire stand to make it durable 

• Folded tablet stand

• This stand can hold anything from [ 5.4 inch x 2.8 inch]  Samsung Galaxy S3 all the way upto a Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8 inch [ 8.3 inch x 5 inch ]  
• For a 10.1 inch or above device, you need to increase the vertical height from 11.5 cm by actually keeping a 10.1 inch or above tablet and let it tilt to a negative 45 degree angle. 
• Due to a 10.1 inch or larger tablet is heavier, the " centre triangle section " has to be even thicker to prevent tablet falling down

Perfume making at home

Super strong perfume that lasts 6+ hours 

Items needed - 

• Essential oils - 2 or more the better
• Perfume storage glass container [ it has to be glass as pure essential oil disintegrates anything other than glass over time ]
• Carrier oil - Olive / Extra Virgin Coconut oil
• Syringe

• Measure equal quantities of essential oils of your choosing, in this case i used 0.1 ml of each oil [ marked by 2 red arrows on this 5 ml syringe ] and put into a glass container. I used an empty 10 ml essential oil bottle 
• Measure about 7 ml of Carrier oil into your glass container
• Close with screw type lid & shake until all essential oils + carrier oil mix properly
• Open perfume container lid while keeping your finger tightly pressed on the top & tilt it [ once ] upside down, and tilt it back to right side up. Remove finger from the top of the bottle & you will see a drop worth of essential oil + carrier oil on your finger tip, apply that on your body. One drop per side of the body is [ all thats needed ]. 
• Given I used a 10 ml bottle, mixing 0.1 ml of 3 essential oils equaling 0.3 ml + 7 ml Carrier Oil results in [ Super Strong Perfume ] which lasts 6+ hrs with just one application. 
• Please DONT over do it, as it is, its pretty strong.
• For a larger container, mix 0.2 ml of each essential oil of your choosing + Carrier Oil 
• Try not to apply this drop on your skin which comes in contact with clothes or anything other than skin on skin, as pure essential oil resulting in fabric/ plastic/ metal disintegration over time 

My Home made perfume using Lemon/ Jasmine/ Rose  stored in a 10 ml bottle + body lotion made of same ingredients stored in a shower gel 250 ml bottle

If perfume can be stored as seen in above pic, so much the better as there are two lids holding your perfume guaranteeing the strength wont decrease over time like most shop purchased perfumes do.

RFID Shielded Minimalist Wallet

Step by step instructions on building your own RFID shielded minimalist wallet -

Items Needed - 

• Single sheet of A4 paper
• Duct Tape 
• Scissors 
• Aluminium Foil 
• Super Glue 
• Ton of patience  
• Surgical precision glueing required

• Fold all corners of the paper starting vertically to exact measurements as seen in fig 1

• Fold the paper again as seen in fig 2

• Fold vertical right side & then horizontal top as seen in fig 3 
• Vertical right fold was not done in final product as it was extremely hard to bend the double aluminium foil + paper + duct tape. ONLY horizontal top was folded twice on itself
• End result is 4 sleeves as seen in fig 3
• On re building V 2.0 of this, the double fold horizontal + vertical was discarded, resulting in even slimmer wallet

• Cards will occupy top & bottom slots with middle slot reserved for cash/ credit card receipts or more cards
• Insert 2 cards on top / centre / bottom slots to get a idea how it will look like, as seen in fig 5
• Because of the number of folds, no card will fall off from the bottom on any of the 3 slots
• Remove all cards after intending the creases on entire structure & unfold it completely to appear as fig 1
• Paper should retain the 1st  folded arrangement on all corners as seen in fig 1, this aids in more rigid final design structure

• Lay down some kitchen foil that is slightly larger than the pre folded paper & wrap it around the 4 corners starting horizontally so it completely wraps the paper
• Straighten all the edges carefully as the foil is very brittle at this stage

• Take another piece of kitchen foil & wrap the pre wrapped structure again, make sure there are no gaps as seen in fig 7

• Double RFID shielded structure emerges now as seen in fig 8

• Take a single long piece of duct tape and wrap carefully horizontally so that half the tape is on one side of the two sided structure
• Why you start with the edges first is, successive duct tape wrap slightly overlaps each layer so it doesnt come un done, as seen in fig 10
• One neednt cut exactly to length of the paper because when we put more tape on vertical sections, any loose ends will self seal on itself

• One side of the paper should look like fig 10, repeat same for other side 
• Now start folding this structure as seen in fig 2 & fig 3. It will be difficult with all the foil + duct tape 
• Straighten out any crooked sides and put more tape along the horizontal double fold seam as seen in fig 3
• Trick is to cut slightly larger piece of tape and slit it in half on top & bottom ends. Then fold one on each other as seen in fig 11

• Duct tape is cut slightly larger than length of the structure & split vertically indicated in red folds downwards on opposite side of above figure. Second split section folds over and downwards on this side indicated in blue. If done properly, you will only get one seam on top right as seen in fig 12

• Seal all edges as seen in fig 12  taking extreme care lifting all visible edges slightly & putting Super Glue  
• Does one need to superglue the inside seams of each slot ? thats upto the user but take care not to superglue the slots together in the process
• After 3 days use, inside seams [ which were not super glued ]  started separating. Therefore having to dismantle entire wallet to fix them.
• Due to cards being semi sharp, constant removal & insertion resulted in structural failure of left side wall [ fig 15 ]. A U bent cardboard wrapped in duct tape was inserted in V2 of wallet

• When trying to dismantle the wallet, i had to cut  the duct tape & i cut through the double foil + insulation by accident
• Damaged sections were re duct taped and entire wallet was opened up completely   [ fig 2 ] to apply super glue to each and every seam on both sides

Aromatherapy 101

What is aromatherapy -

                                     

                                      Is a form of alternative medicine that uses volatile plant materials, known as essential oils, and other aromatic compounds for the purpose of altering a person's mind, mood, cognitive function or health.

Aromatherapy is the treatment or prevention of disease by use of essential oils. Other stated uses include pain and anxiety reduction, enhancement of energy and short-term memory, relaxation, hair loss prevention, and reduction of eczema-induced itching.

Two basic mechanisms are offered to explain the purported effects. One is the influence of aroma on the brain, especially the limbic system through the olfactory system. The other is the direct pharmacological effects of the essential oils. While precise knowledge of the synergy between the body and aromatic oils is often claimed by aromatherapists, the efficacy of aromatherapy remains unproven. However, some preliminary clinical studies of aromatherapy in combination with other techniques show positive effects. Aromatherapy does not cure conditions, but it is suggested that it helps the body to find a natural way to cure itself and improve immune response.

                                    

Items you need - 

• Oil burner - candle or electrical 
• Essential oils
• Syringe
• Tea lights 
• Vegetable oil 
• Cotton Wicks
• Stainless steel container where oil + wick to be lit 
• Water 

Experiment # 1 - oil burner/ essential oil/ tea light/ plastic lid as base/ water

• Items were arranged as seen in this pic. A plastic lid was placed as a base for the tea light, which helped in relocating/ igniting the candle inside the oil burner. This setup proved a single tea light can last for 3 hours of continuous use. But, as time progresses, candle wax decreases thus having to refill " spent " wax with new " left over " candle wax from other larger candles in the household. Due to the size constraint of a tea light, refill process [ wax + water ] has to be done every 30 mins or so depending on how strong the candle flame is in relation to water on top of the burner. Further experimentation proved [ if ] candle flame is higher as in 1: 2 ratio, faster  water evaporation + shorter candle burn time. But putting a plastic base was a big mistake as i found out later on and was discarded.

Experiment #2 - oil burner/ essential oil/ steel container/ vegetable oil/ cotton wick/ a old coin/ water

• Same experiment was repeated but instead of tea light, vegetable oil + cotton wick was used. It has to be stated, burning any vegetable oil [ does ] leave black soot inside & around the oil burner, that is un avoidable. Wick has to be pre soaked completely in vegetable oil prior to being lit and the flame has to be almost at the oil level, otherwise, you get black smoke. You need to place a old coin at the bottom of the steel container so the wick doesnt get submerged in oil with each re fill. This setup proved once and for all, longer burn time as opposed to 30 min window for tea light [ as wax levels decrease ] but water need to be refilled often, depending on how large the oil burner is. With vegetable oil, single refill burn time = 5.5 hours [ based on size of stainless steel container as seen above ]. 
• So, why a syringe ? that is used to extract fixed quantity of essential oil that is to be put in the water on top of the oil burner, so you maximise lifetime of  essential oil containers. Taking a 5 ml syringe, you only need to draw up to the first marker from the bottom of syringe. See pic with essential oil + syringe for the [ two ] red arrow markers. 

• Taking into consideration a single tea light burns for 3 hours [ on a single use basis ] and if one lights this badboy for 12 hours a day, you would need 4 tea lights a day. Which equates to 112 approximate tea lights a month, which is not cheap. But with vegetable oil, you would only need 2 1 litre bottles to last 1 whole month of 12 hours daily use.
